"Heart vs Mind"
the heart is a nuisance
when it feels something it wants
you have to follow it
the heart is a problem
it will leave you restless until you get it
sometimes it likes to play games with you
the mind is a pest
it works in conjunction with the heart
the mind goes over and over again the matters of the heart
The mind is trouble
it will keep flashing back to the one thing that matters least to the heart
sex
The heart and the mind conflict with each other
while the heart wants love and sometimes does not know how to find or receive it
the mind begins to take over and begins to seek out love
although the two very different entities have two very different opinions of what love means
the heart believes love is pure and innocent and should be cherished
meanwhile, the mind seems to think that love is foolish and is connected mostly with sex
the mind can also be bruised and easily influenced by its bruiser
the mind begins to remember its past woes and tries to analyze the situation
bad idea
now the mind is beginning to panic
it tells the heart things that may or may not be true
it sizes up the person in question and tries to single out their weaknesses, strengths, and quirks
it makes comments about the persons looks and takes those into account
the mind creates chaos
while all of this is happening, the heart beats more rapidly in its cage-like nest
The heart gets influenced by some of the lies and irrational panic that the mind has created
the heart is restless now
it also begins to panic
it creates pain for itself
heartache
the pangs of love in its most desperate stages
it begins to ask the mind whether action needs to be taken or not
the mind considers it, as it does for everything else the heart desires
it asks the mind if this person is actually in reach and if it is possible to steal their heart and read their mind and see their thoughts and feel what they feel
while the heart asks this question, the mind does not truly care about any of what the heart worries about
the mind is only concerned with the libido's main concern: lust
it asks itself whether or not it will get laid
the heart hears this question and answers to the mind that love is not lust and that they should be looking for love rather than the latter.
the mind begins to agree and its instincts begin to take over
a sense of ownership arises within both the mind and the heart
both now feel like they are responsible to have and to hold this person they so desire
once they feel that their new yet-to-be claimed territory is threatened by another person, they feel that competition is emminent
the mind begins to doubt itself at times thinking that perhaps they will not prevail
both the mind and the heart witness a stare from their desired-love's eyes towards their competition
they've seen those eyes before
they know that stare
they begin to fear and to panic once more
now the mind starts to get angry
it ponders over and over again within itself what this new intruder has that it doesn't have
and once it finds its answer, it will start to contemplate on how it can change that situation into something better
then the trail has gone cold
no more information is given about the desired
nothing new is found out
now only the burning question remains
"is she the one? will she be my next girlfriend? or will i fail again?"
memories of past failures and mishaps now playback as if on a film reel in the mind
the mind tells itself to grow up and that it is being childish
it tries to assure itself that it has only been one day and that it can still get to know her even if there is competition
"may the better man win" it thinks to itself
night time has come
time to sleep
the mind begins to shut down
it falls asleep only so much
but the heart stays awake
it still beats through the night
the mind is still somewhat awake
not so much awake
but more like dreaming
the mind dreams in lucidity
the heart feeds it thoughts, feelings, memories, images, faces, hair, bodies, lips, eyes, ears, noses, legs, hands, feet, rears, backs, breasts, chests, torsos, smiles and a plethora of other features belonging to this desired woman
suddenly the mind is jolted awake
perhaps it has been fed too much ingredients for its dreams
or maybe, perhaps, it is just morning and the sun burned through eyelids to wake the mind
the mind still remembers the dreams it has just had
and the heart begins to miss them
the two of them long for the dreams to become reality
and the vicious cycle continues
the heart desires something, the mind tries to create it in reality
the wheels keep turning
the mind continues to think
the heart continues to beat

Comments
I've felt something similar, but I don't think I put it into words as well as you have.
The only critique I can give is capitalization.... but that's just because I'm a perfectionist.
And your welcome!
what a fantastic piece overall. my favorite part is
"night time has come
time to sleep

it falls asleep only so much
but the heart stays awake
it still beats through the night
the mind is still somewhat awake
not so much awake
